In direct mail, marketing, marketing tools

Marketing your business can be a struggle. It’s not an easy thing to do. It requires specific knowledge of what message you want to convey and who you will be conveying it to. Once obtained, that knowledge can then be applied to social media networks, blogs, email blasts and the list goes on. With new technology constantly being distributed to the consumer, eMarketing seems to be the only effective route anymore...or is it.

If you’re this far, you’ve probably read the title and know what is coming next. Direct Mail! InfoTrends did a study on Direct Mail and found that it is the best way to generate action with consumers. Yes, I did just say the BEST WAY.

Today I will be sharing with you the top 4 reasons why you should invest in direct mail.

1) It captures attention

According to data collected by Tony Haile of Chartbeat, over half of your website’s viewers spend less than 15 seconds on your website. 15 seconds, 1/4 of a minute or the time it takes to tie your shoes. It is REALLY hard to convey a message in that time. Direct mail, on the other hand, gives you an abundance of time to work with. InfoTrends found that 82% of direct mail is read for a minute or more. That means you have 4 times the amount of time to work with.

2) It’s not ignored

Email campaigns can get annoying. They make you feel like a number. Sometimes they are so general, you send them straight to your trash folder. With direct mail, it’s different. 66% of direct mail is opened (InfoTrends). It makes people feel like they are valued as a customer. It is easy to merge a database of contacts with a generic message then send it off. It is another thing to have a tangible piece of information with your name on it.

3) Boosts website and physical store traffic

Having trouble getting views on your website? Are you finding there is too much dead time where you have no customers in your store? Over half of consumers who responded to direct mail went either online or visited the physical store.

4) Increases purchases

If this doesn’t convince you to make direct mail a part of your marketing process, then I don’t know what will! 62% of consumers who responded to direct mail made a purchase (InfoTrends). Not only is it an inexpensive way of marketing but direct mail potentially brings in more purchases and customers for YOU!
